Mrugaja Gurjar, Research Engineer, Department of Radiation Physics, Göteborgs Universitet, was granted money to support her visit to ESTRO. We asked her to share some words about her experience!

“Thanks to Jubileumsklinikens Cancerfond and my supervisors, I attended my first radiotherapy & oncology conference in Madrid, Spain called European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO).

After a long gap due to the pandemic, it was great to attend a well-organized onsite conference with a large number of attendees. I am very grateful to Jubileumsklinikens Cancerfond for providing me with a valuable experience and learning opportunity.

I presented my research on dynamic prioritization of patients when scheduling them for radiotherapy in the category: patient-centered radiotherapy services. This has the potential to reduce patient waiting times at radiotherapy departments.

There were several interesting sessions and teaching lectures for all the junior researchers like me to build our knowledge base in multidisciplinary radiotherapy. It was very inspirational to learn about the ongoing research in different radiotherapy tracks.

I hope to continue and contribute to this field through my research at Göteborgs Universitet and at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital to aid the operational gaps faced in RT departments.“
