“In June of this year, I had the chance to participate in the XIX Nordic Society for Radiation Protection (NSFS) conference in Malmö, Sweden. The conference takes place every four years and brings together researchers within the field of radiation protection from all the Nordic countries. The theme of this year’s conference was “Caring and Sharing”, emphasizing the sharing of knowledge and concern for the negative effects of radiation, as well as its benefits to society. The conference spanned a week and included numerous interesting presentations, posters, focus sessions, and discussions, along with social and networking activities, specially designed for young scientists.
It was the first time for me to present at a conference and I had the possibility to give two oral presentations connected to a literature review I conducted last year as part of my PhD project on the biological effects of low-dose radioiodine exposure. Sharing my research with fellow passionate researchers in the field was a valuable experience, providing me with new ideas and inspiration to move my research project forward.
Overall, the conference was a remarkable opportunity for me to present my work, connect with people who have similar research interests, and gain insight into how radiation research is done at other research institutions in the Nordic countries.
I am deeply grateful for the financial support I received from Jubileumsklinikens Cancerfond, which gave me the chance to participate in my first conference!”
